Illegal IMAN toll collectors Group.

Joint task force led by Commissioner for Transport and trade and Commerce go tough on illegal toll collectors.

Visited all the offloading centers and market being duped .

Sensitized markets leaders and drivers carrying containers

Declared the activities of some group of people using the name of (IMAN ) ,to defraud transporters and traders illegal.

Gave marching order to the transporters and traders not to pay or deal with the group as directed by the Governor of Anambra State.

Yesterday 29th June 2020 ,the joint task force led by Commissioners for Transport ,Hon Afam Mbanefo and trade and commerce, Hon Okafor Uchenna Wiper visited all the offloading spots and some markets in Anambra State where a syndicate group going by the name Importers Association of Nigeria (IMAN) has been terrorizing transporters and traders in the state .

The Syndicate, since some weeks now have been visiting all the container offloading Units ,and markets in Anambra State demanding various amount from transporters and traders before they could offload and sell .

According to the Chairman of new tyre spare parts, Nkpor" they came here ,telling us they have authority papers ,that they must check all the goods being offloaded, they also started demanding 500,000 etc before we could offload our goods ,our people refused to pay ,they started seizing our containers, telling us they are coming back with Army ,Police ,etc to deal with us ,then we notified the state government "

The syndicate which claimed they have authority Papers but not from Anambra state Goverment in the course of their activities mandated all drivers,traders carrying container to pay various amount ranging from 500,000 ,400,000 etc before they will be allowed to offload goods .

The group which visited New and old tyre market Nkpor,etc started seizing yet to offload containers belonging to Anambra traders .

Against this background, a joint task force led by Commissioners for Transport ,Hon Afam Mbanefo and trade and commerce, Hon Okafor Uchenna Wiper moved round all the markets and offloading points ,as directed by Governor Willie Obiano, mobilized the transporters and traders to disregard the activities of the syndicate.

Measures were also put in place to track and arrest the group once they entre offloading points or markets in Anambra state.

Talking to transporters conveying imported goods ,and traders in various Markets ,the honourable Commisioner for Transport, Hon Afam Mbanefo and trade and commerce, Hon Okafor Uchenna Wiper jointly told them not to pay or have any dealing with the group ,as directed by the Governor of Anambra State. The traders were equally advised to sensitize all the traders in the state on this issue , contact the security agencies, Government etc whenever the group disturbs them again. The government has also put measures on the ground to track the group .
